China says its unmanned spacecraft has successfully landed some distance from the moon. The Chinese government said the spacecraft landed in an unexplored area where no one had attempted to go before.

The place is known as ‘South Pole Aitken Basin’. It is thought that a large collision early in the formation of the Moon created the giant crater.
